Being equally left and right brain thinking the artist came naturally to work with clay and glaze chemistry and is spurred on by the omnipresent challenges that they present. She set-up her first studio in the late 1970’s but personal tragedy changed that plan almost immediately. Considered by some to be a ‘terminal student’ the artist actually taught in the public school system for over 20 years. Despite her great love of art and focus on art at university and college she also minored in Biology and Environmental Education and became known for writing and teaching science curriculum. It is her love of art and science that brought her and keeps bringing her to ceramics and the mysterious world held within. As destiny would have it she is working in her second studio in Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island and feels passion, privilege and gratitude for that door being reopened. The artist is a committed ‘life long learner’ and eagerly anticipates the days ahead, unveiling what will come. “Art” is the artist’s language and she believes these two things to be true. - ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ and ‘beauty’ is all around us’. She endeavours to work with these two truths. Currently she uses a variety of firing techniques, metal frameworks and silk screens to speak to the observer. It is her hope that she will bring you closer to knowing your own potential for relating to all that is ‘ART’.
